ScholarMap is built privacy-first. Here is exactly how your information is handled.

Your data stays on your device

Your profile, saved opportunities, applications and preferences are stored in your browser using local storage. There is no account and no central database collecting this information. The one exception is the AI Advisor: when you use it, your message and a summary of your profile are sent to OpenAI through the configured AI service to generate a response.

How the AI Advisor works

The Advisor sends your message and a summary of your profile to OpenAI through the configured AI service. ScholarMap does not ask for or store an API key in your browser, so no key scope is requested and no key is kept in local storage. Conversations are not stored by ScholarMap after the response is returned. OpenAI may process prompts under its own terms.

No tracking, no selling

ScholarMap does not sell your data, build advertising profiles, or share your information with third parties. There are no hidden trackers following you across the web.

You can erase everything

At any time you can export a full copy of your data, or permanently reset everything from the Settings page. When you clear it, it is gone for good.
